Christmas Proposal Ideas: 3 Special Ways to Pop the Question
The holidays are a magical time of year. From the glistening snow to the twinkle lights on your neighbor’s house, there’s just something a little extra special in the air. I like to think there’s one way to make the season a little more magical, and that’s by getting down on one knee to ask your special someone to marry you.
If you’re like most people, you will likely experience a few butterflies before the proposal. One way to take a little pressure off is to use normal holiday events to propose. Below you will find three different Christmas proposal ideas on how to completely surprise your soon to be fiancé and to create a proposal story she’ll love to tell.
The Empty Box Proposal
Let’s be honest. One of the most anticipated moments of the holidays is when you FINALLY get to open those mysterious presents under the tree. With all that excitement naturally built up, this proposal will only be that much more fun. This proposal is all about the prepping. Since all of the work is done before the main event, all you need to worry about is getting down on your knee at the perfect moment.
For this proposal, you will first need to find an assortment of different sized boxes that can fit nicely inside each other. In the smallest box, leave a note containing a clue to where the “present” is located on the Christmas tree. Proceed to wrap this small box inside the next smallest, and then put that box inside the next, etc. Finally, wrap the last box in wrapping paper with a giant bow on top (you can also wrap all the other boxes to keep the anticipation going as she works her way through each box). Before the big event, find a time where you can sneak down to the tree to place the ring box in the spot your clue leads to.
New Ornament Proposal
If you and your special someone enjoy putting up the tree together, then this is the perfect proposal for you. A week or so before you put up the tree, sneak into the ornaments box and add in a clear ornament with the ring placed inside. Make sure you place this ornament towards the middle/bottom of the box so it’s not the first one she picks out. When the time comes to put up the tree, make sure she is the one who pulls the ornament out. Once she realizes what is happening, drop down to your knee and pop the question.
12 Days of Christmas Proposal
We’ve all heard the song, “On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...” Well you’re her true love, right? So why not plan a ‘12 Days of Christmas’ for her? On the twelve days leading up to Christmas, give her one small gift each day. On Christmas Day, you can guess what the twelfth gift will be. As she opens it, drop down to your knee and pop the question!
A Christmas proposal is the icing on the holiday cake. Not only will it make a great story, but also every year you and your sweetie open presents or hang up ornaments, you’ll be reminded of the one year when you dropped down on one knee.
